Knowing Your Federal Poverty Level
The Federal Poverty Level (FPL) is a way to measure income, considering things like the cost of living and how many people live in your household. This guideline is decided each year by the department of Health and Human Services (HHS). It’s a powerful number to know where you stand so that when you begin to seek for serives that have the option for Financial Assitance, you can be prepared.
Step 1: Determin how many people are in your household- or rather who is on your tax return
Step 2: Look at your total household income- this should be everyone’s income from the previous year. If you have anticipate new and higher income, you will take that into account.
Step 3: Find your income level based on the above numbers.
